The examples I've found are also reading from stdin, so I'd suggest 
trying that:

import sys

while True:
     arg = sys.stdin.readline()
     newValue = "/index.html" # placeholder for testing
     sys.stdout.write(newValue + "/n")
     sys.stdout.flush()
