I would certainly hope Apple and KDE's take on the CTWM WorkSpaceManager look better, but OSX and KDE users pay for the prettyness with increased memory and CPU requirements. I've had a number of OS X and Windows users here at work inquire about my Linux desktop when they watch me work. I can do all my work from the keyboard and navigate a dozen virtual desktops with ease and switch between applications in the blink of an eye, all on a machine with significantly less horsepower than the typical G5 Mac or P4 based PC (I use a 1.4 Ghz Celeron with 256 MB ram).
