Sure it still will. If you look in the KDE Control Center, under peripherals, you can set your keyboard repeat rate there. I wound't be surprised it it's overriding your .bashrc when it launches.

If you dont like KDE on Knoppix, go for XFLD (Knoppix with XFCE 4.06 as desktop environment) or GNOPPIX (same with Gnome)
