Is it possible the problem could be related to pipelining? or go away if it's off?
in the location bar type in about:config and hit return
In the filter field, enter "pipe"
Try setting the value for "network.http.pipelining" to true or false (the opposite of what you have it set to.)
You can also try chaning the value for "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" from the default to some other number. This only has an effect if pipelining is on.
Now, since pipelining is only for accelerating the loading of a particular tab, this shouldn't make a difference, but it's worth a check since only one of the two of you experiences the issue.
