I haven't been able to test Firefox in Mac OS X, as I don't know anyone who has a Mac. But thanks for pointing out that additional annoyance!

i've not seen this behavior on OS X at all. page loads don't block other tabs from loading.

I've been using FireFox on MacOSX as my only browser for maybe 6 months. Under both 10.2 and 10.3. I heavily use tabs. I've not noticed any problem with simultaneous downloads. Maybe an issue in some configurations, but not mine.

I too have noticed Firefox struggling at times. When that starts happening I switch over to Safari (I run both at the same time). I'll have to try Camino at some point to see whether the architecture differences making any difference.

I am always keeping 10 to 20 tabs open in two or three windows, and downloading several html or pdf pages simutaneously, and it works great. I am using OSX of course.

Ihave been using Firefox and previous incarnations since before tabbed browsing was available. Ever since tabbed browsing became available Firefox, and previously Firebird, has been my main browser. I've been using a 500MHz G4 w 1GB RAM. I have never experienced problems with tabs. However, I must agree with the issues over the download manager. Those are the very reason I still keep Safari and Explorer around. Sometimes Firefox comes across a download it just can't handle. At least with the other browsers, they can pick up where they left off.

Admittedly, Firefox is a great product. The whole framework concept has been excellent in pushing developers. I've been working with CSS/DHTML and some of the plug-ins have been great. From a standards perspective, Firefox is also towards the top of the list. Some of their additional CSS properties really add to a site.

Keep an eye on the project, it's going somewhere.
