BerkDB has come a long way since the early days to be sure... but I don't think most ppl. know about a lot of its new features (e.g. checkpoints and transactions being very cool) and how to use the db_* utils to manage and recover the DBs when something does go wrong and their app. craps out on them. Also I don't know why the man pages for the utils aren't included in RedHat at least.
