If you do not have spares on hand and your Vtrak is still under warranty (3 years), Promise does offer a 4 hour turnaround replacement in some locations (Promise On-site parts replacement service).

I'm currently in a process of buying new Promise VTrak SATA Subsystem for my
SAN. I'm wondering what spare parts should I buy in advance? From Xserve
RAID experience I know that RAID controller often tends to fail, but what
about Promise VTrak? Should I buy whole kit or just RAID controller or power
supply? My budget is very limited.

I just contacted promise yesterday to get a replacement for a failed controller. Would have been nice to have a spare on hand...
