There is no release yet, so we can change everything :D
It reminds me the ObsoleteAttribute for the DataBinding attribute in an alpha ;)

Another important reason: There are already a lot of "if (configContext != null) .. " statements in there. And I know, some more will be necessary to correctly handle different behaviour of web & standalone apps.
 
I don't think (at least for now) it opens up for add. functionality - it's just cleaning up clumsy code. atm it feels like mscorlib referencing System.Web ;-)
