You mean when you specify more that one .wxs and expect each to be compiled to 
its corresponding .wixobj? It doesn't blow up for me, I use it all the time to 
create a modified WixUI with a dialog added. The build command looks like:

candle.exe /nologo MyWixUI_Mondo.wxs UserRegistrationDlg.wxs BrowseDlg.wxs 
CancelDlg.wxs Common.wxs CustomizeDlg.wxs DiskCostDlg.wxs ErrorDlg.wxs 
ExitDialog.wxs FatalError.wxs FilesInUse.wxs LicenseAgreementDlg.wxs 
MaintenanceTypeDlg.wxs MaintenanceWelcomeDlg.wxs OutOfDiskDlg.wxs

SetupTypeDlg.wxs UserExit.wxs VerifyReadyDlg.wxs VerifyRemoveDlg.wxs

... and it works all right.
