Re: Merging DataSet (Added and Unchanged): msg#00419windows.devel.dotnet.winforms
If you do decide to use GUIDs as the primary key, for the love of God please do yourself and favor and make sure that your do NOT put a clustered index on them. -----Original Message----- From: Discussion forum for developers using Windows Forms to build apps and controls [mailto:DOTNET-WINFORMS@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of philip sayers Sent: Wednesday, February 25, 2004 9:10 PM To: DOTNET-WINFORMS@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [DOTNET-WINFORMS] Merging DataSet (Added and Unchanged) I do the same thing... It does feel like a kludge... One alternative is to use GUID's as primary keys and make use of the NewGuid functions in .Net, so the primary key generation occurs in the client app rather than the database engine. |
