The xcopy deployment does not work for web applications. You need to create
a virtual directory for your application on the server.

Subject: [DOTNET-WEB] Problems deploying a web application

Hello all,
This is my first asp.net real application. I have a local copy that runs
fine on my locahost but I'm having troubles when I copy the files to the
remote server. I changed the connection string to the remote database,
copied the dlls corresponding to the application blocks we use (Data
Application Block and Exception Handling Block), also changed the
csproj.webinfo file to point to the new server, but when we try to access
out remote application we get the following error:

"Server Application Unavailable

The web application you are attempting to access on this web server is
currently unavailable. Please hit the "Refresh" button in your web browser
to retry your request.

Administrator Note: An error message detailing the cause of this specific
request failure can be found in the application event log of the web server.
Please review this log entry to discover what caused this error to occur."

What could be causing this? Any setting file we're missing? Shouldn't the
deployment be as easy as copying the scripts to the server?

Thanks for helping a deployment newbie,

Lizet
