Eventlog/registry issue with .NET app

This is a good free tool for troubleshooting registry problems. You can see
exactly what is going on. In fact the site has a lot of excellent utilities.

Regmon is a Registry monitoring utility that will show you which
applications are accessing your Registry, which keys they are accessing, and
the Registry data that they are reading and writing - all in real-time.

I have a .NET app that works on my machine, my partners machine, and our
development server.

...BUT... on our live server, it will not write to the eventlog, as is
does on all these other machines.  Thanks to help I got on this site, I
do have errors going to the database, but this message I get says that
the "Requested registry access is not allowed"

I've tried the solutions suggested on the web, like creating a key for
the registry, and I looked at the machine.config file to change the user
to "SYSTEM"  - tried giving write permissions to aspnet.net user for the
eventlog key.  Still doesn't work.  Why - oh why on this one machine,
which is set up like all the others?  Any ideas for fixing it?
