Re: Eventlog/registry issue with .NET app: msg#00109windows.devel.dotnet.web
One trick I use is to write a small app console or winforms that writes an entry to the required log creating the source and the log if required. Run this as a Administrator. You asp.net app should then be able to write to the log. -----Original Message----- From: Discussion of building .NET applications targeted for the Web [mailto:DOTNET-WEB@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jennifer Quinn Sent: 25-January-2005 21:04 To: DOTNET-WEB@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [DOTNET-WEB] Eventlog/registry issue with .NET app I have a .NET app that works on my machine, my partners machine, and our development server. ...BUT... on our live server, it will not write to the eventlog, as is does on all these other machines. Thanks to help I got on this site, I do have errors going to the database, but this message I get says that the "Requested registry access is not allowed" I've tried the solutions suggested on the web, like creating a key for the registry, and I looked at the machine.config file to change the user to "SYSTEM" - tried giving write permissions to aspnet.net user for the eventlog key. Still doesn't work. Why - oh why on this one machine, which is set up like all the others? Any ideas for fixing it? Thanks very much in advance if you can help. =================================== This list is hosted by DevelopMentor(r) http://www.develop.com View archives and manage your subscription(s) at http://discuss.develop.com Opinions expressed in this e-mail are those of the writer and not the company.
