Subject: RE: Is there a mediator for this group?

Hi Paul, and All,

I've just setup a googlegroups discussion list. I'm interested to know
whether you would all be interested in moving across. The spam on this list
has become so out of control that I'm ready to quit. It's a real shame as
I've gained a lot out of this list over the years and feel that I've been
able to help others at times. I do recall that this list has already
transferred once quite some years ago. The two lists coexisted for a while,
but traffic on the old list dropped off pretty quickly.

I have set the new group up as anyone can join, but only members can post,
but it occured to me (and Paul echoed below) that this effectively means
anyone can post. I've just looked at all of the spam that I've received
through this group and although some are from the same user the majority are
not, so stopping the spam on a totally open group would be a loosing battle.
Therefore I'm proposing changing it to new members must be approved to join.
If possible I will set it up to allow several of us old timers to admin the
group and therefore approve membership requests, although I don't yet know
whether googlegroups allows for multiple admins.

Anyone interested? If not I'll just delete the new group. If so, I'll post
details here after I get consensus on whether to go for "new users must be
approved" mode.

Regards,

Steven

I sent him mail, but have not heard back from him. I'm guessing he's
swamped with other things. I'll contact Yahoo to see what we need to do
to get control of this group again. (I think that Kenny put it in "no
moderator" mode - so that anyone could join, and therefore post, to this
list...)

Kenny Goers used to be the moderator. I will ping him to see what he is
up to these days.

Best,
Paul

Hi,
I've been getting email from this group, lately seems to be all junk
from MOX.

Although I'm not a primo ce - developer I am interested in winCe
developments.
Just wish I didn't have to run over to the email when MOX and other
junk mail comes through channels like this. Other groups I'm on, kick
them off the 1st time?

Just a thought,

Ian
