yes it's for direct connect, but even isn't used application look if the
file exist on server side.

have you restarted apache ? (do htcacheclean if mod_cache is enabled)
have you restarted your browser and clean this cache ?

 mustn't show up 
it's not dependent of WebObjects configuration but depend on "Alias /WebObjects 
..."
