The problem is that it replaces all quotes, while for instance 3.5" should not be replaced. -- On reflection, smartquotes could do: [0-9]' -> ′ [0-9]" -> ″ [0-9]`' or `" -> &r[sd]quo; Should a number followed by a quote mark normally be a prime / double prime, or a right quote? In other words, the default behaviour could be to treat quote marks after numbers as primes. The exception behaviour (backtick) makes them into right quotes. Any preferences? JR |
