subscripts/superscripts with monospace font?

I'd like to display some expressions containing subscripts in a monospaced
font.  I tried:

    {{{ P,,a,, == 0 }}}

but the subscript notation is not evaluated in this situation.  Is it
possible to get monospace font display with subscripts/superscripts?  (I'm
using Moin 1.2.)
