Subject: Voicemail/pppd conflicts in webmin 1.03? - msg#00181
List: web.webmin.general
Hello,
I just installed latest webmin on Red Hat 8 using the RPM on the home
page. I did it on a stand alone desktop connecting to the internet via
ppp on serial port ttyS0.
I tried to set up an answering machine also on that port with webmin.
I choose
Answer mode = voice/voice/voice
Remove silence from end of messages
Keep messages containing data or DTMF codes
Do nothing after recording
Then I apllied the configuration. After that my pppd/chat script
connecting me to the internet stopped working. Error message:
+FCO+FCO^M
^M
ERRORERROR^M
Even after reboot.
I canceled the serial port from webmin, added /etc/nologin.ttyS0, and
now the Internet dialup script works again. What did I do wrong? How
can I configure the PC with webmin so that it does answer the phone
when I'm not there, but it dials up as before when I run the script?
Of course, let me know what other info I need to post here to make a
complete answer possible.
TIA,
Marco Fioretti

Well I found the old hostname from before my last upgrade to the latest
'stable' release.....it works great...'-f' and everything!
So I'm ok, thanks for the help!

IPTABLES
Hi
I have set up a RH8.0 with ip masq on it, it routes traffic to my
computers, but it allso contains a webserver (untill i get a computer
seperate for that)
Im running IPTABLES on it (kernel 2.4.x) and wondered if there is an
interface that makes it easy to work with, i dont know if it might be
like when you set nat commands in a router (where you tell what port
from the internet ip and what ip and port it should be routed to on
either netcard)
I havent read much about firewalls yet, i got it activated, i just need
to control it as easily and flexible as possible :-)

Re: Voicemail/pppd conflicts in webmin 1.03?
I forgot to add (only 6K) /etc/mgetty..../voice.conf and the vgetty
log file. They are in the attachment. Thanks aagin in advance for any
help.
