Not unless you change --prefix equal to /usr when you run ./confiugure. There are probably other settings. What would probably be the best bet is to do: rpm -e openssh-* (note I mean findout what openssh packages are on your system, and remove each one) and then recompile from the tarball. All that being said, you should not need to do this, as there is an RPM at the www.openssh.com site, and if I understand the redhat devel list correctly, RedHat's RPM was not configured with the "challenge-response" authentication scheme on by default. So RH 7.x appears to be clean, your RH6.x installs...who knows.
