Also WinSCP version 1.0 > uses password authentication only, although version 2.0, which was in > beta last time I checked can use private keys. I downloaded the beta > and gave it a spin and it seemed quite stable. PuTTY has used version 1.0, 1.5, *and* 2.0 of the protocol for over a year now. Been using it that way since I first discovered it. Don't know about TeraTerm, though, as I foundit to be a horrible terminal client. WinSCP 2.0, while considered beta, is a wonderful little tool. It's one of the most stable pieces of software I've used in a long time. One gripe, though, is that it hasproblems with permissions (changing, setting, copying onto). The nice thing is the support of keys, which pscp lacks at this time.
