Support Requests item #1152197, was opened at 2005-02-25 23:09 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by hal9 You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=211118&aid=1152197&group_id=11118 Category: None Group: None >Status: Closed Priority: 5 Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: constant ip Initial Comment: i didnt see this posted anywhere. im kinda new to this but from what i can tell Tor runs your request through many dummy servers, and these servers are randomized so you cant be tracked. im not so much concerned with no being able to be tracked, more so that i want my ip to not be my own. but it needs to be the constant. running Tor with Provoxy seems to keep the same ip for a while, then switch, this closes my connection to the server im trying to be connected to. is to Tor in charge of which servers to go through? should i be using something other than Tor? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Hal Burgiss (hal9) Date: 2005-04-10 10:09 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=322640 Duplicate ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: chimeric (chimeric) Date: 2005-04-10 00:45 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1256346 When logging onto members-only websites using Privoxy, I sometimes encounter a problem with Privoxy's constantly changing IP address feature. One site I'm a paid-subscription member of, runs a security monitoring program that currently allows only eight IP address changes, and then it completely disables the username and password, making it impossible to get back onto the website until the administrator (angrily and impatiently) resets the password. Is there any way to keep the IP address sent to particular websites static? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=211118&aid=1152197&group_id=11118 ------------------------------------------------------- SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users.
