Summary: WinXP Pro multi-user environment

Initial Comment:
In Privoxy 3.0.3 for Windows running on a WinXP Pro SP2 machine, I run into
trouble when a non-Administrator user tries to use the proxy: Pivoxy complains
that it does not have rights to the log files. I can set the Privoxy log files
to be world-readable, but that brings up privacy concerns since all users could
then see all other users' web histories.

How should I set up Privoxy in a WinXP Pro multi-user environment?

Another related problem is that when one user logs in, Privoxy is started. When
fast user switching is enabled, another user can log in at the same time -- and
Privoxy is started again. It complains loudly that it cannot bind to the port,
but the second user can still simply connect to the first user's instance, of
course.

Allowing Privoxy to be installed as a service would fix this. It seems, though,
that changes to the application itself are required to turn it into a service,
but then again ... what do I know about Windows?

Exactly how does one configure Privoxy 3.0.3 to run as a
service? The SRVANY technique does not work, at least on Win2K.

I have searched the archives and seen this question asked
severa times, but never answered. Does anyone know?

I'm sorry, how do I set it up as a service?

Set it up as a service. That way it will always be running,
no matter who logs in with whatever account.
