Heads up: caching changes in head branch: msg#00075web.polipo.user
Hi, I've just implemented a smarter workaround for mod_gzip bugs in the head branch of Polipo. Unlike the previous workaround, it's cheap enough to be enabled by default. The workaround is controlled by the variable dontTrustVaryETag. If false, servers are assumed to be compliant. If true, ETags are ignored on objects with vary, as before. If this variable is maybe (the default), Polipo will check the values of Content-Type and Content-Encoding before trusting an ETag. This should work around mod_gzip and mod_deflate, but not necessarily other buggy servers. It's completely untested, so feedback is warmly welcomed.
