Subject: thunderbird/enigmail key fetch with polipo + tor

i am trying to fetch PGP keys from a keyserver using standard hkp protocol. i
have thunderbird configured to use tor and polipo. enigmail has a setting
"extensions.enigmail.respectHttpProxy". if this setting is "true", i can't
fetch keys; if it is "false", all works as expected (at the price of my
anonymity).

i've started a similar thread in the enigmail forums:
http://mozilla-enigmail.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=192 . there, i've been told
that hkp protocol will work over an http proxy. can anyone verify this
behavior and possibly track down a solution?

if it's of any use, i am actually using PortableThunderbird 1.5.0.8 and the
Polipo win32 binary. however, i might assume this is irrelevant.
