Calendar Functionality

I've just setup a phpgroupware system for my company to initially use just
the calendar and later on to use the full feature set.

I have however found a feature whereby if I assign a entry to a group when I
create a new user and add them to the group they do not automatically gain
the diary entries.

does anyone have ideas?
