rrdtools in conditionals?

I'd like to keep rrdtool stats per virtual host.

I've got the module loaded, and when i set the rrdtool.* vars in the
global config section, it works, but conditionals don't seem to take
effect.

Am I missing something obvious and being my usually blind self? :)
