You don't say which browser you are running on, but I'll guess it is IE:

Internet Explorer will change all links to their absolute form: this is
completely outside Kupu's control and there is nothing that can be done
about it. The Plone implementation attempts to partially compensate by
converting all links to their relative form when the document is saved.

Perhaps similar code should be included in the other implementations but
this can be done either in Kupu or at the server. I suspect we should look
at moving the relative link code from the Plone code into the common code
and making it available as a save filter.
