Get Started with Flickr Web Services

Hi all,
    How are you feeling today?
My name is Alexandros and I am new in this group.
I would like some help from you all to help me get started with my 
project. This is my Final Year Project of my Degree.
I will develop a Web Application that will use the Flickr Web 
Services to browse photos, users and all these stuff.
I will develop my Application in ASP.NET 2005(C#).
As far as I know (read some books about it), to be able to 
communicate with a service in ASP.NET the only way I know is to add 
a Web Reference to your project.
To do that you need a URL of the service.
This also will provide you with the description of the Web Service 
(WSDL, DISCO files) that you as a developer should examine and use 
it to create your Web Application.
Did I get it right?
Is there a different way doing all that in Flickr?
I had a look at the services/api and things confuse me a bit?
Could anyone enlighten me a bit?
