Re: terminology roundup |
OK, I tried to update the spreadsheet with example sentences, and also
added verbs (your initial spreadsheet only had nouns).
Also, you seemed to be missing "initializer" from your list (3rd arg to
dojo.declare/defineWidget), so I added it.

So there have been a lot of "discussions" lately about what do we call
the different things in dojo. For example, some people like the word
"Class", some think that "Class" is too closely tied to immutability to
be used in a dynamic language like JavaScript.
I created a page summarizing my recommendations for a consistent set of
terms that we can use. Please have a look before the meeting tomorrow.
Although this may not seem like a big deal, I think nailing this will
both end a lot of pointless bickering and help improve our "narrative
voice" in the docs by having us all talk about the same things in the
same way.

If you have different recommendations from mine (in yellow), please add
a new column and put them there, *don't mess with my suggestions or
anyone else's*. To make it quicker to parse, please just show the
differences from my suggestions so we can more easily see where we all
agree.
*Also, it appears that only one person can edit the page at a time, and
if you are looking at the page, you are locking everyone else out from
making changes. Please don't leave the page open in your browser. *[if
any Jot experts can tell us a better way to do this I'd love to hear it].
[Apologies to Bill who created a similar page the other day which I
forgot about when I created this one. His page is at:

thanks all
Owen
