memcached/libevent issues on Freebsd 5.3

For some reason, the memcache port (version 1.1.11)  doesn't like working
with the libevent port (version 1.0) on freebsd 5.3 RELEASE-p4.  Attempting
to run memcached causes a segfault.

Uninstalling the libevent port  and manually installing the latest libevent
(1.0b) from the website fixes whatever the problem is.  Since I'm not sure
what the underlying problem is, or the correct solution, I thought I would
just copy everyone on this.
