faq sub titles

sorry for my English (i'm French, Paris)

 

VLC is the only divx freeware working on my pc, witch is not powerfull : 500 mhz ! But I don't understand how to had a .sub file (sub titltes for "Monsieur Verdoux" by Chaplin !) to my avi film... Even the french translation of the user guide is to hard for me to understand.
