Initial Comment:
The mga_vid kernel module from mplayer does not let 
you set an x,y,w,h within the frame to zoom in to, even 
though it would be pretty trivial to do.

We should fix mga_vid and update it.  This was noted 
also on mplayer-g2-dev.
