Bugs item #977547, was opened at 2004-06-22 11:18 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by vektor You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=506987&aid=977547&group_id=64301 Category: Capture and tuner related Group: Open bugs in CVS tvtime Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Ron Smits (ronsmits) Assigned to: Billy Biggs (vektor) Summary: processed sound Initial Comment: I have an SBLive card and I am looking for a way to get the sound from the tv piped to it in such a way that alsa can handle it. now it is handled by the card itself which means that only the small the center speaker is used. currently I do recording in one window with ffmpegrec and play the file in another window. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Billy Biggs (vektor) Date: 2004-06-23 16:45 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=153320 It would be a pain for tvtime to process the audio as well, not just in terms of the code involved, but in tracking the audio latency and sync. Appliactions like MythTV which actually record the video have it easy, since they have a lot of control of the output rate and can keep sync that way. Right now in tvtime we process video in realtime as fast as it comes in. We would have to write some sort of synchronization infrastructure probably, or at least some way of managing the buffer sizes. Ugh. If someone wants to work on this I would be OK with it, but I wouldn't want to do it myself or consider it a requirement for tvtime 1.0. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Ron Smits (ronsmits) Date: 2004-06-23 16:26 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=215617 arecord -f cd would do it, but I would prefer a solution where all is in 1 program. programs like mytv and etv do it but myth is a nono when you are not in the states and etv for some reason does not want to record sound at all. When I saw that tvtime did processing of the video (like interlacing and such) I was hoping it would process the sound too. If you want to send it via spdif you can try % arecord -f dat -t raw | ac3dec -R which segfaults here, though. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Billy Biggs (vektor) Date: 2004-06-22 12:49 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=153320 Shouldn't this be an option somehow in the driver for how to handle anything on the line-in going out to your 5.1 system? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=506987&aid=977547&group_id=64301 ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email sponsored by Black Hat Briefings & Training.
