I am sending this to almost everyone, because I haven't told anyone about
updates for quite some time (1.5 to 2 years or so). Sorry about my reply
going into more detail than you asked about, and for anyone who receives
duplicates of this message.

Subject: still alive???
Date: Tue, 26 Nov 2002 10:24:20 -0500
Hi, is panorama still alive? I can't find a source tarball anywhere, or
contact any developer(s).
Yup. Panorama is still alive. I am still working on it, as well as an old
friend that I have recruited. As far as a current source tarball goes,
there isn't one available. You can, however, check it out via CVS. For
more information, try http://sourceforge.net/projects/panorama.
I plan to release a new source tarball, which I have named version 0.18 (the
previous was 0.14), and start up bug tracking as soon as I get the admin
rights I have requested for the project (less than 2 months, hopefully). I
also plan to release binaries for windows (see below) at the same time. If
you really need a source tarball soon, I could probably put one up somewhere
on the http://panorama.sourceforge.net site (which hasn't been updated in
ages).
If you want the bleeding (jagged, broken) edge of panorama, you can try the
version 0.19 branch by using -rpanorama_0_19 on your CVS command line. It
is the current place where I am dumping my changes and adding all new
features. After I fix a lot of bugs there, I will bump the number up again,
as there are a lot of changes and improvements.
I will warn everyone here, that version 0.19 is NOT backwards compatible
with version 0.18 or previous scene files (rt format). The new SDL is much
easier to use, has the ability to call functions belonging to objects, type
abstraction/conversion, and is MUCH easier to fix the parser.
If you want something more stable (for now), just use the current version in
CVS (http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=7862), which is currently version
0.18. It supports static compilation under Windows (MSVC++-6), although its
image output is limited to tga (targa) files at the moment. It does include
a number of improvements over 0.14, although I can't remember enough about
it to list them.
Any questions or comments are welcomed.
