Hi persall,

First of all, I don't know whether or not AIW 9600 is supposed to work.
I'm still using good old 7500.

If you feel adventurous you could update to Debian unstable, which has
Xorg 7.0 and includes the Gatos drivers, so you don't have to install any
drivers yourself.

Are you trying to capture TV or just to watch it? If the latter, you don't
need km device.

Currently avview requires ffmpeg 0.4.8 (but because avview links to it
statically it doesn't matter if you have newer ffmpeg installed in your
system).

I once tried to port avview to use 0.4.9, but it required some nontrivial
changes and crashed every time I started recording.
