Static / builds was Re: mp4a support?

I was about to do the same. I am just curious why regular builds  
aren't done for ffmpeg..something with static libraries for a few  
major OSes. Perhaps something along the lines of Extreme / Common /  
Bare Bones options for OS X, PC, Common Linux, etc.
