problem installing ffmpeg

Hello,
 
  I need to use ffmpeg librairies under Cygwin for another application 
working under Cygwin, so I downloaded the file ffmpeg-0.4.9-pre1.tar.gz 
from the site http://sourceforge.net/. Unfortunately, when I try to 
compile it, 'make' ends with the error message : "strip : ffmpeg : No 
such file or directory". Can anyone tell me what to do to solve this 
problem please?
