They don't. They claim they do on the website, but when I asked for them I
got the usual runaround.

When I looked into it a few months ago, the i740 appeared to be pretty much
identical to the i810 minus a few key features (multitexturing, anisotropic
filtering, etc.). And while I keep threatening to hack the i810 driver to
support i740, it's definitely not on my front burner.

error while loading shared libraries: libXxf86vm.so.1

On the DRI downloads pages I've followed the instructions "upgrading to X.org" to a T... I installed the common and savage snapshots files... the drm modules was built, modprobed, etc... and my X.org starts fine (with DRI working - from xorg.log) and 2D graphics feel much faster but trying to run anything linked against libGL fails with the following message: glxinfo: error while loading shared libraries: libXxf86vm.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory It seems the libGL included with the common snapshot is dynamically linked against libXxf86vm... I'm running Debian Sarge and managed to get a static (.a) version of the library by installing xlibs-dev, but using packages.debian.org I'm not sure there is any package built that include the dynamic version of this library. Googling reveals that evidentally a lot of people don't build it shared because it has no real solid API yet... (though there weren't a LOT of Google results on the topic) So this is a two fold question... what do I need to do to make this work... and why have things changed... When using the older Xfree86 executable and snapshots I never recall this being an issue... is it possible to go back to statically linking in this library? Any help would be greatly appreciated, or if I need to provide more info, let me know... building the whole thing from source is a last resort due to time constraints and downloading 300mb over dial-up is insane... Yeah, I recall that the i810's graphics core is what the i750 would have been as a standalone accelerator, which is a beefed up i740. It seems reasonable that the feature set and programming paradigm would be similar. -- Ryan Underwood, <nemesis@xxxxxxxxxxxx> signature.asc Description: Digital signature
