mercurial -> git loses branch history: msg#00026version-control.tailor
Hi, I just tried a hg -> git conversion via tailor. The last working combination is hg 0.9.1 and tailor 0.9.28. I also had to add "--remove" to tailor's git-update-index calls to get the import to conclude. I don't know whether that was sufficient because I ran into a worse problem. That problem is: the import loses information. The hg repository I tried this on contains a simple branch+merge: | D / \ B C \ / A | Unfortunately, the resulting git revision history is a straight -A-B-C-D- sequence. Ouch. :-( Needless to say, that won't work for me. Any plans to fix that? -- Matthias Urlichs | {M:U} IT Design @ m-u-it.de | smurf@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Disclaimer: The quote was selected randomly.
