RE: [p4] VMS editor problems: msg#00159

Subject: RE: [p4] VMS editor problems
Hi,

I actually couldn't see any responses at all (would be nice if people sent
answers to the mailing list as well). Don't know if it helps, but using NEDIT
always worked fine for me.

Setting P4EDITOR to NEDIT and then invoking "perforce client" or "perforce
submit" works just fine. I haven't defined the perforce client symbol as "P4"
due to possible name collisions with command (DCL) file arguments (P1-P8) -
instead I use e.g. PE*RFORCE :== "$DISK$USER:[P4]P4.exe".

I also normally don't use "TEMP" on our VMS systems. I tried it out now though
(def/log TEMP "sys$scratch:"), and it also seems to work just fine.

VMS version is OpenVMS Alpha 7.3-1, perforce client is latest available for
Alpha OpenVMS (2002.something).
