RE: [p4] %d syntax in p4 protect?: msg#00166version-control.perforce
There's several projects that tackle this problem out on the Perforce Public Depot (http://public.perforce.com:8080 for web access). Jeff Grills has one, but, of course, I'll sell mine :) I put it under //guest/matt_albrecht/scripts/protect Hopefully the readme and sample files are self-explanatory. Ping me if you need additional assistance. -Matt > -----Original Message----- > From: perforce-user-admin@xxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:perforce-user-admin@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Rich Ireland > Sent: Monday, April 26, 2004 2:40 PM > To: 'perforce-user@xxxxxxxxxxxx' > Subject: Re: [p4] %d syntax in p4 protect? > > Shackelford, John-Mason wrote: > > Does Perforce support a way to do something like the following with > > protections? > > > > write user %1 * //sandbox/users/%1/... > > Yes and no. > > There is a %x substitution feature, but it only works in filenames. > > > http://www.perforce.com/perforce/doc.032/manuals/cmdref/o.fspe > cs.html#1040847 > > It's a feature I've requested - I hate editing permissions > all the time. > > An even better feature would be to have named protection 'files' that > could be included from the main protection list.
