I have modern jvms on fewer machines than I have ghc running at the
moment. I find the ocaml vm to be much easier to port than the java
vm. Of course, everywhere I've built the ocaml vm, I've also built the
native compiler, so I haven't really used it.
I do agree that getting ghc running in more places would be the
biggest win, though. I like that people are slowly getting away from
the idea that all programming has to be system programming.
