Choosing A Webhost:
A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to provide their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called colocation. more...

I don't think this is the correct list for your question. The CVS lists would better serve you better, this list is for TortoiseCVS issues (but I'll give it a shot anyway):

CVSROOT=:pserver:aaron-bioqHt+SptrpoiX6YQwLcw@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx:/home/cvsd/cvsroot

cvs import: Empty password used - try 'cvs login' with a real password

cvs [import aborted]: Error reading from server 172.22.11.10: 0

Looks like that might be some sort of firewall breakage. Can you telnet to the server on port 2401? Are you running a firewall?

However, logging into the server via SSH and doing the following worked:

$ export CVSROOT=:pserver:aaron@localhost:/home/cvsd/cvsroot
$ cvs login
$ cvs import -m "My initial project message" testproj mind-design start

So I don't think the problem is the cvsroot path as per this archive message - http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=8922633 - unless the path should be entered in some other form in tcvs?

Your CVSROOT looks correct to me.

It may also be worth noting that the files I want to create a module from are located on a mapped network drive (V:\cms), if that has any bearing on things.

That's typically not recommended, since there are issues in working with a network drive, but it should work.

Another tip: CVSNT runs on Linux (and several other *nix systems) and has a superior feature set compared to cvshome CVS. http://www.cvsnt.org/wiki/CvsntAdvantages

Any pointers appreciated :)

Thanks,
Aaron
