I've tried -d 99 as an extra ssh option. When performing a checkout to a
new directory it looks like it 'hangs' just after it writes CVS/Entries.
When performing an update to an existing checked out version it does not
hang.
When compared to the same output for WinCVS 1.2 the ssh -d 99 output
looks normal.
I'll try to commandeer my manager's Win2K machine to see if it behaves
the same way. If it's a configuration problem, then I'll be all the
happier for it.

Oh. I've only seen one XP machine. I ran away in fright because the
icons
were so huge I thought they were coming to get me :)
I've never tried Cygwin on anything other than 95, 98 and 2K, so I don't
know
if that might be more of an issue, but the fact that ssh and openssh
fail would
seem to indicate otherwise.

No, I've not :( It's been tested on Win95 and Win98 with just the
1.3.8.1
beta 8 build 1 version of WinCVS. We were going to go back to the last
non-beta build, but the beta version never crashed, so we didn't bother.
Does something like adding -f to the ssh command line help ? Snippet
from
ssh -?:
-f Fork into background after authentication.
The only other things I can suggest are tricks I used when trying to
debug
the last setup I did, which was to select Show CVS Console in the
Admin->Preferences->General page, and also add -v to the ssh command via
Admin->Preferences->General->Settings (tick Additional ssh options).
Does
this come up with any useful info, or does the session appear to close
down
properly ?
