The organization that I work for uses CVS at the command line, WinCvs,
maccvsX, and MacCvs to support the various platforms in the office.
Every once in a while somebody does not set their MacCvs or maccvsX to use
raw binary file types and associate the file types and it gets checked into
CVS as a MacBinary. This causes problems for everybody who tries to use
those files. I have been told that MacCvs helps to prevent this, but it
still happens occasionally. Once it is a MacBinary, we cannot seem to make
it something else (or we do not know how :).) unless we check the file in
from a Windows machine. If we do check the file in from a Windows machine,
and then check the file in again from maccvsX it will revert to MacBinary
again (at least in my testing).
So that leaves me with two questions:
1. Is there an easy way to fix the MacBinary formatting on the CVS server if
it happens again?
2. is there a "de facto" quick setting in MacCvs and maccvsX for making sure
that this does not happen again? i.e. Raw binary for all binary file types
no matter what!
