If you are doing this because of introducing new hardware (presumably you are migrating your views to a new box), you will need to run endview -server anyway ... however, I assume you are trying to ensure the end-users do not experience too much difficulty with the switch over, hence wanting to end their views? My advice would be to notify all Windows users and get them to reboot their machines before using ClearCase, once the migration is done. Despite the ClearCase registry allowing for resources (views and VOBs) to retain the same tag if it is moved, I have noticed the Windows clients often don't like this (despite the UUID etc remaining consistent). At least with a reboot, persistent views and VOBs will restart (I think it's done on the basis of tag, so it detects the change).
