So my question is
Are the institutes doing a good job in imparting knowledge to students? And
if they are what level they are doing it? (He didnt know abt alsactl and
increase the PCM level..)

No offense to any of those getting this certifications , but these have
become similar to MCSE or CCNA.

Here is my experiance with certifiation
In early 1990's when I asked a job asirant few basic commands is DOS he
just put a Blank face when I asked waht do copy, format and DIR commands he
said the Institute did not teach them thoucgh there was section of
introduction to DOS/

And again early 2000 by then windows had established itself I repeated the
same question and asked him to perform them on a command prompt he put a
blank face again and sad he knows only to drag and drop, so I have him him
the desktop which I had customized he said he has never used this WINDOWS at
all the bottom line is most institutes have same altitude /approach just
browse the course ware and let the poor student who paid through his nose to
fend for himself.

It is 2006 and the scene is no different be WINDOWS/ Linux or any
professional courses they take students for granted only a minority of them
by their own effort and desire to explore beyond the courseware do they gain
exposure/experience of the subject in question

I appreciate Suman for his suggestion of having talk on Certification it
will give the audience /members an insight of what is there and how to
exploit them to ones advantage. I agree that it should not be sales pitch
After the talk by the institute let there be a short session where members
who went through the certification give their experience/feedback.

Thanks
