gpm is loaded at boot time (or at least before the login prompt) with a
ps2 busmouse.

links -g -driver svgalib -mode 800x600x256

links has been "chown 0 links" and "chmod u+s links" to make svgalib
happy.

links does not appear to have its own mousing capability. When gpm is
unloaded, links doesn't respond to the mouse.

Incidentally, my version of Links refuses to recognize X as a driver. It
only claims there are two drivers, svgalib and fb, and it also refuses to
use fb.

The distro is Slackware 9.1. Nearly everything installed, except for
GNOME. KDE, apache, and a few other non-required packages.
