Re: srvices accessible only from localhost: msg#00920user-groups.linux.kansascity
which distro? some of them like to lock down xinetd.d to localhost by default. You would have to check the /etc/xinetd.conf and then inside the /etc/xinetd.d/ and see if any of the services are set with only_from localhost. -Bill On Fri, 2003-11-28 at 01:09, kcichap-0NmH7p4SfXGsTnJN9+BGXg@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx wrote: > i hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving. mine was an adventure to > say the least *sigh* toddlers... > > i'm just getting my second linux box up, and i've discovered that i am > only able to access my machines locally. for example, 'barfy' is a > caching-only name server. it resolves for itself just fine, but not for > any other machines on my network. ipchains is wide open with a default > accept policy. i started to play with other services, and discovered > that i can't ssh between linux boxes. i am able to ping between them, > but that's it. anyone know what's going on here? thanks. > > keith chapman > penguin novice > ms refugee > > > KC Linux Users Group -- to unsubscribe send mail to > majordomo-3DadQFcgQnvYtjvyW6yDsg@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Enter without the quotes in body of message "unsubscribe kclug" > KC Linux Users Group -- to unsubscribe send mail to majordomo-3DadQFcgQnvYtjvyW6yDsg@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Enter without the quotes in body of message "unsubscribe kclug" |
