I don't know how you're defining ``user friendly UI'', but normally
when people use that phrase they mean ``Winduhs clone UI''. E.g. I
recently installed Ubuntu for a remote NGO (they're so remote they
don't even have mobile phones!)
They must be living in the US then :)

on the other hand, there must be an atmosphere which allows
alternatives to thrive for those who are not comfortable, for whatever
reasons (political/technical), with windows. and corporations, by
their very nature, do not want alternatives. perhaps that's the reason
why linux should be advocated? :)
Corporations actually like alternatives - except for those that compete
with their own products :)
Hardware companies love $0 software - because they don't have to split
the cost of the solution with a software provider.

hi folks,
My name is Phuntsok and i work in Tibetan Children's Villages,

I'm sending this from a Rs 21,667 Mac Mini, running on a Free OS, with a
non-free GUI.
I believe small form factor is key to keeping the manufacturing costs
down. And low power helps too.
